Spike protein is an envelope-anchored protein that mediates the recognition and binding of coronaviruses (SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19) to host cells. Spike protein can be further cleaved by the host protease into two subunits called S1 and S2, wherein the S1 subunit contains a receptor binding domain (RBD) crucial for the specific recognition and interaction with the host cell receptor, ACE2. This is the first and the most essential step for the virus infection.
The cDNA encoding the highly variable region of the antibody recognizing S1RBD from mammalian cells was identified by phage display library, fused with the Fc fragment of human IgG1, and expressed in Chinese Hamster Ovary (CHO) cells. This antibody has been verified with our SARS-CoV-2 S1RBD (Cat No. 41A231). 41A244 and 41A245 target different epitopes of S1RBD.
